Have a Question? Here’s an Answer

What type of horses/ponies do you visit?

I visit horses/ponies from many backgrounds/equestrian spheres.  I've worked with "happy hackers", Riding Club & Pony Club horses/ponies, companions/retired horses/ponies and those competing in Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing, Driving at all levels.

Where are you based?

I'm based in North Wales and predominately cover the North West however, I am often asked to travel throughout England, Wales and Scotland and I am very happy to do so, providing there is enough interest to make the journey viable.

What is the duration of a visit?

As each horse/pony is an individual, it is difficult to say exactly how long the visit will take.  Typically, most initial visits take between 1.5 - 2 hours.  The visit is often emotionally tiring for the horse/pony as well as for their human so, occasionally, if I feel that the horse/pony is becoming too weary, I'll bring the visit to a close.

What happens during the visit?

I begin the session by explaining to the horse who I am, what I’d like to do & asking them if they consent to my help.  At this stage, I make the horse aware that they only need communicate with me if they wish to do so.

Healing

I then continue to communicate with the horse whilst locating where any emotions are held in their body from past trauma. I explain to the horse’s human exactly where I feel energy blockages, suggesting how this may affect the horse’s way of going.

I then heal the area - during the healing the horse will often lick, chew & yawn, releasing the energy blockage from within. Occasionally, they may relive past fear, anger & confusion from previous experiences, resulting in my being pulled around, bitten & kicked as their emotions continue to be released.

With some horses, full healing can take more than one session – this may be because the trauma is very deep set and/or the horse is reluctant to release the blockage. If the horse is very deeply traumatised, it is sometimes necessary for the initial healing to be given at a distance (e.g. from outside the stable).

At the end of the session the horse may be exhausted but by releasing the energy blockages the horse is able to relax in every way – emotionally & physically.

It’s not unusual for a horse to lie down & fall into a deep sleep after their session.

Please be prepared to allow the horse to rest for the remainder of the day and, preferably, the following day too.

By releasing the energy blockages and counselling them through the event that has caused it, I aim to bring the horse peace.

The horse’s human sees and feels the difference, not only on the ground but also when they ride; the stiffness has gone, the body and mind are relaxed and the human has begun to understand the horse with a better mutual connection.

Communication

During the session I am constantly communicating with the horse.

It’s difficult to explain exactly how they “speak” to me and the method the horse chooses is as individual as the horse is!  Most commonly, they give me words, phrases, names & pictures.

With some horses who have connected with me on a deeper level, I experience the discomfort/pain they are experiencing in my body.  It is really not unusual for me to cry their tears for them or to laugh out loud (many horses have a very good sense of humour!!!)

Often, the horse’s human feels the emotions too – please be prepared for this.

I tell the horse’s human EXACTLY what the horse has told me.  Sometimes this can be unpleasant for the human but it is my promise to the horse – to be their voice, to speak for them - and it is a promise I WILL NOT break.

Therefore, please be aware that you may hear some (uncomfortable) truths about what the horse really thinks of you.

Often the horse will speak about its past & sometimes this can be traumatic for the horse’s human to hear.  For this reason, it may be advisable to have a close friend/family member available to support you after the session.

Will my horse/pony require more than one visit?

Again, as all horses/ponies are individual and respond in a variety of ways, it is difficult to say in advance whether more than one visit will be necessary.
I like to leave it to the horse/pony's human to take time to acknowledge the benefits/changes brought about by the visit.  If the human thinks it would be advantageous for me to return then I am more than happy to do so.
A number of my clients have regular visits, typically 2-3 times per year as they see the benefits of healing on their relationship with their horse/pony. Regular visits typically take 45mins to 1 hour as the horse/pony has grown to trust my work thereby speeding up the process.

What do you need to know about my horse/pony before you visit?

Absolutely nothing apart from the address and postcode where I am to visit the horse/pony.

Can you diagnose ailments?

NO! I am NOT a Vet.
I can tell you where I feel pain/a problem but I cannot make a diagnosis.  I tell the horse/pony's human what I feel, where I feel it.  I ALWAYS advise seeking vet intervention/advice.

Is there anything I need to do prior to your visit?

Yes, you MUST seek permission from your vet for me to visit your horse/pony.  Either you can provide me with your vet's details and I will speak directly with them or you can contact them yourself.  I WILL NOT VISIT ANY HORSE/PONY WITHOUT VET'S PERMISSION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

How do I book a visit?

A request for a visit can be made in several ways either:

  • Use the "Contact Me" buttons throughout this site to discuss the requirement.

  • Requesting to be included in my "Upcoming Events" using the "RSVP" button for the Event(s) you wish to be included on.

  • Telephone me to discuss your requirements (sometimes sporadic due to poor mobile services in my area).

  • Via my Facebook page link here.

How do I pay?

To book your individual visit I require a 50% deposit to reserve your booking, with the remaining balance payable at least 7 days prior to the visit.

Payment can currently be made via Paypal.

For all our group "events" (Workshops etc) I require a 100% deposit, again payable via Paypal or direct Bank Transfer.

What if I need to cancel/postpone a booked visit or workshop event?

Get in touch and let me know what you need to help accomodate your requirements.

All "Events" rely on running with a pre-arranged number of participants. It is therefore necessary to pay a 100% deposit at time of booking. If you need to cancel or postpone your participation in an "Event", I will always endeavour to fill your place from my "waitlist". If I cannot fill your place I may be forced to retain the deposit.

Cancellations within 24 hours will attract a cancellation fee equivalant of the full visit fee.

Why do you charge more for a visit to my area?

The additional travelling costs incurred are equally divided across all participants in the area's Event and are in addition to my local rates.
I am of course very happy for you to bring your horse to me in North Wales (local rates will then apply) or maybe consider attending a day or multi-day "Workshop".
